its a new year n stuff, ive been through a lot and am still going through a lot. ray jay holds a lot of meaning to me as a fursona because theyve been my longest held fursona. weve been together for at least four years now. theyve changed and grown like i have, and im actually incredibly proud of how consistent its design has stayed over the years
i felt its time to refresh ray again, still holding up what makes ray jay essentially what it is, but bringing it with me still as a representative of myself as a person
this year im going to give the addition of a differing facial option, one being something more naturalistic and bird-like, but also keeping ray jay with ears as theyve always had since the beginning. ray jay is also going to get a new hairstyle(featherstyle?) to reflect my hair irl, it looks like a quail tuft which i think is just fantastic
the sketches are arranged as the refreshed design was being developed, sketches closer to the previous design are at the top, moving down to sketches getting a more cohesive refreshed design and final full body drawing to the bottom. these drawings were all drawn the same day tho so theyre all current

I really like the new, younger-looking face type. The quail-tuft is also a neat addition, and definitely brings more "you" into it since you share the same look. It looks a lot more stylized and animated, and I certainly like that, since it also seems to match some of your personality. Definitely more adorbs, if nothing else.

awah, yeah, i was definitely going for the energetic appearance since ray really embodies a lot of the zestier parts of me
tbh when i find out how i do such clean sketches ill share bc my sketches are either sloppy indescribable messes or really tight and refined there is no in betweenthank you for the comment tho! i appreciate it lots

Ahh! Their new design is so adorable! I love the new rounded smaller beak and it's cool how you can still really tell its Ray, even if Their appearene is different.
Everytime I see your awesome avians it makes me want to make a birdy OC/sona but beaks are hard to draw wweh

I can't even handle ray jay's ultimate levels of cute. the shapes, the expressions and just the fluidity of your work... I may have said this before but your style is just so aesthetically pleasing. It's seriously just such a delight to look at and take in. :)
