This was a combination Christmas/Valentine's Day 2013 present for my wonderful mate . I had contacted to see if he was amenable to a musical portrait of our characters, and I'm very happy he was - and he suggested may be up for making it a collaborative project, which added awesome to awesome! :)
I managed to keep it a surprise from Kikivuli, and I think it's safe to say she was very happy with it. :)
The Swahili that you can hear at the beginning is my translation of Fox's verse to go with the piece:
Under the morning sun
I am still in the process of learning Swahili, so I apologize regarding any language mistakes!
Alector has done a great job of capturing that carefree feeling of our characters. As dawn breaks, they run with the herd just for the sheer joy of it, driving the impala (and a couple dik-diks) before them! I love the feeling and motion, and the colors are just wonderful. :)
And Fox's music? Awesome as always. Utunu's instrument is the 'fula' flute, and Kikivuli's is the 'djembe' drum throughout this piece. I have listened to it time and again, and absolutely love it.
And Fox and Alector, I know you both already know how happy I am with how this came out, but thanks again, it really is amazing!
