For a while, Utunu thought he had lost the path completely; the night was dark, and the rain made visibility difficult. No distinctive silhouette of his target stood out in the brief flashes of lightning, and doubt had started to set in. Utunu recalled a story Mnenaji had told, of a white blesbok - he did not remember the specifics, but he recalled that should one appear, he should follow. A spirit animal of sorts, leading to a place? A revelation? An idea? He wasn't sure, but he would not give up the chase. Another flash revealed the entrance to a canyon, and in Utunu went. Only moments after, a great crackle of lightning split the heavens, its webbed tendrils of light scattering across the night and Utunu's vision. And there, illuminated, was the blesbok; it stood there, seemingly awaiting him.
