Resist Videogame Cover - Signal

After getting frustrated with a piece of gift art, and then even getting bored with my "test dummy" painting that I use to experiment and hone my skills, I decided to screw around with photoshop (this was just before my replacement Bamboo stylus arrived).

As a fun little go around, I thought I'd make a videogame cover for RESIST being I am currently constructing a text-based version for the sake of script planning. Unfortunately I had a few restrictions without a tablet to do some real work, so I tried to go the minimalist route. This required no tablet (or even the convenience of a mouse), no brushes, and no fancy texsts. Really, this thing is just comprised of old sketches, the fill tool, basic serif text, format settings, and a boat ton of filters and layers. As time went on, I had the horrible idea of making a fake Xbox 360 version, so I blew it up to high-res and slapped it onto a 360 template. I am quite pleased with the finished product, though, it probably wouldn't be the final cover if I had my way.

The interference effect has been a continuing association with RESIST, so I kept to the trend. There is some symbolism in the Formic skull's resonance across the cover, reflecting the significance of the wave nature of reality and how it plays a crucial role in the story's existence. Parallel universes are a big part of the story, and the theory itself derives from wave-particle (Schrodinger's Cat to be precise), hence the heavy use of wave properties. A lighter green than the usual was selected to maintain unity.
