Anyone who's been following me from way back when might remember I had an OC named Valo, originally a somewhat unoriginal plain black wolf.
Well, I don't really use any of those old OCs any more but after looking back through some old art I remembered how much I loved Valo and felt he deserved to be resurrected.

So his back story has been expanded on and revamped almost entirely, and now he's a hellhound too.

Having left his birth pack at 2 years old to form his own, he met and started a pack with a female wolf named Venue. Their pack grew in number to 7 and was doing well until a much larger rival pack moved into their territory with the intent to run Valo's pack off or kill them and take the area for their own.
Unwilling to relinquish his territory so easily Valo spent some time one night cursing the fact he was unable to fight back against his rivals, catching the attention of a demon looking for more souls.
The demon offered Valo a deal, in exchange for his soul the demon would see fit that Valo could beat his enemies. Valo took the deal, what use had he for his soul anyway? What even was a soul? If he'd lived in ignorance of it thus far he had no need for it.
Almost over night the rival pack grew sick, many dying off and those remaining becoming too weak to drive off Valo and his pack. A satisfactory end, thus far.

Unfortunately one should never trust a demon. Valo enjoyed only one year of completely uncontested rule over his territory before the demon sent a hellhound to collect on his soul.
Ifreann was the hellhound sent to retrieve Valo's soul, killing Valo's friend and Beta in the process and dragging Valo to the darkness.
He spent 74 years in his own hell, enduring torment and torture before succumbing to the dark and transforming into a hellhound himself.
His first decision - kill the hellhound that dragged him here and killed his friend. Unfortunately for Valo, being so young as a hellhound, he was no match for Ifreann and very nearly met a grisly and painful end before Diabhal stepped in and swayed Ifreann's mind.
Ifreann chose instead to beat some harsh truths into Valo, and he begrudgingly became a member of Ifreann's clan.

He still struggles with just how long he'd spent in the darkness and the fact everything he knew is either dead, changed beyond recognition or wrong but he's little choice but try and come to terms with his new life. It doesn't seem nearly as simple or enjoyable as his old life, and the thought he will one day no longer even remember having a life before this like the other members of Ifreann's clan terrifies him, but it is still preferable to death.
