Cucumber Slugs. Elephant sized parasites that attach themselves to the tough hides of kaiju via spikes puffed up and sharpened from their own skin. They use a special saliva, which is more akin to stomach acid, used to digest kaiju flesh and suck it up in a nutrient slurry. It has a necrotic affect similar to flesh eating bacteria.

Kaiju can heal and shrug it off easily, but for macro civilians who have no such immunity, the results are nasty. It doesn't help that along with the stinging spikes that they also have a mucus that sticks something like armored cement sometimes.
