I recycled Sebastian (in his jackal form) as one of the pirates, and it could totally be canon, too. Maybe spent a little time as a pirate, just murdering the shit out of people left and right, keeping the worst of the worst in check. The only thing said about the character in the book is that he was gigantic and has had many names that still terrify children on the banks of the Guadjo-mo, where ever the hell that is.
