Elk Dawn by Tygerwolfe

Elk Dawn

Tygerwolfe

It has been a really long time since I've done a piece of art that was completely for myself. All the commissions I've worked on over the last year have obviously helped me refine my style and quite a few techniques, because I had no idea when I started this that it would turn out so...perfect.

Long story short - I play hunting games. My favorite is TheHunter (found at thehunter.com - I'm Tygerwolfe), and my favorite prey is the Roosevelt Elk. I especially love bow hunting - compound, specifically. So this pic has been at the back of my head for a very, very long time.

I don't think I've ever made something I was this proud of before - this was so very much worth the 30+ hours of work and the over sixty layers it took to compose and complete.

I apologize to anyone who is offended by the concept of hunting games, but I enjoy them - it's a way to let a little of the wolf in me out to play. :P Don't badmouth my hobby, please. Thank you. :)

Also, I used quite a few tree and foliage brushes in this work - I don't remember who I originally got them from, but I know they were all put up for free use.

After I posted the original version of this image, I found out I'd made it WAY too dark for people who have normal eyes. :P Therefore, this is an improved version. The original can be seen here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9405863/
