Does not everyone eventually lost his love? At least for a certain time?

This stone with a cross stands at the outer wall of a Romanesque chapel called "Margarethenklus" in a low mountain range called Wiehengebirge / Germany.
He was found near the chapel and placed at the wall.

No one knows really what the stone with the cross really represents. What is its purpose, its meaning.
The stone is a mystery for scientists.
