William's AoA WIP 2 by TristanAlexander (critique requested)

William's AoA WIP 2 (critique requested)

TristanAlexander

Damp weather and frustration with doing the gold leafing has made me decide to do the color work on this before finishing the leafing. It is almost done except the blank areas being leafed and the miniature getting details. Calligraphy will be added once it is finished.

Is there a way that you can give the colors a faded wash to give more antiquity?

Considering that the sorce for this is from the 1400's and is as bright and colorful as my freshly painted version, a look of more antiquity is a fantasy. This is what it looks like and what the Medieval version looked like. The idea that "old" manuscripts look faded or washed out is not realistic or true! Only damadged books have anything like the look you are thinking of.
