The Big Station 6 by Transcentyger

The Big Station 6

Transcentyger

The railway station Canfranc in the Pyrenees was one of the biggest European railway stations, but closed since half a century, see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canfranc_International_railway_station
Only one rail is still in use for a regional train, the huge main building is completely closed up and can only be visited with guided tours. But the entire station area with the platforms, the rails and a lot of rotting cars is not too hard to access.

A cemetary for trains.

Has anyone ever thought of restoring it?

I don`t think so. This station is in a very small town inmidst the Pyrenean mountains and was only of importance as a border station between Spain and France - and since the only one bridge from France collapsed it is unreachable for trains from France. But who knows - maybe there will be find another purpose for the gorgeos station building?

Yeah, it'd be nice as a railway museum. You know, get a bunch of artifacts and docked thee to explain how it helps the railway and such.

This is totally the kind of thing that used to make my eyes light up as a kid.
