‘How do you get the red to stay that way?’ Ell’ian asked loudly. ‘Whenever I put blood in my hair it goes brown before the end of the day—‘

‘That’s her natural hair,’ Toro coughed.

‘What? That’s amazing! You have good blood in you! Have lots of kids.’

‘Toro this is my husband,’ Lilth pulled her husband over as he came out from the shop she’d been waiting by. ‘Daiden.’

He was big, even for a wolven, and Toro couldn’t help but feel a little jealous as Daiden glanced around; dazed by the sudden attention.

‘Wow! Lilth he’s huge!’ Ell’ian exclaimed. ‘I’ll buy him off you if you ever lose interest. Toro has a lot of money and I don’t think he’d mind; he says I can get whatever I want.’

Toro sighed, and Ell’ian turned to him.

‘Don’t worry, Toro, you’ll always be my first mate. It’s just … look at how big he is! He looks strong, Lilth, you are very lucky.’

‘Thanks?’ Lilth chuckled nervously. ‘He is pretty strong. A lot stronger than I am.’

‘Yes, sex with him must be a lot of fun,’ Ell’ian grinned at Daiden. ‘I bet he could hold you up and—‘

‘Ell’ian, look! Chickens!’ Toro grabbed Ell’ian and turned her around before she could finish her sentence. ‘Let’s go buy some! How many do you want?’

He quickly lead her away and cast a glance back to Lilth and her husband. They stared back for a moment before whispering to each other.

Toro’s sensitive ears twitched as he eavesdropped.

‘That was my boss’ son,’ Lilth muttered. ‘And … his fiancé. She was trying to be nice. I think. She’s not so bad just a little. … Inappropriate at times.’

‘She wanted to buy me,’ Daiden snorted a laugh. ‘That’s one heck of a confidence booster.’
