I end up using a snake pattern on a lot of my work because it gives me a way to wrap the design around a piece. In this case, it was also a good way to play around with how to apply glaze to a surface. The parts of the snake that are on the outside of this mug were left unglazed, so that there's a contrast between a smooth and rougher texture on it.. It's definitely one of the mugs I'm particularly pleased with.
