Elephant Graveyard by Tonin

Elephant Graveyard

Elephant Graveyard

There's a place upon the desert
Drier than God's own eye
A plain of stones and sand and bones
Where giants go to die

Blind, they walk in silence
And deaf, they feel their way
Their god has crawled inside their heads
And turned their hearts astray

They suffer no true illness
Their bodies are not frail
Their eyes and ears, they function
But none may pierce the veil

For death, he walks beside them
And lo, they think him friend
And they will fight to keep him
Unto the bitter end

Yea, they seek the desert
Their god's eye, it is dry
And the world, it knows no pity
As the elephants, they die
