Wyrm by Tonin

Wyrm

Wyrm

Dark stars light our way today
The serpent doubles back
Ebon scales glint with gilt
As green gives way to black

Passion stands ascendant
The wedge is driven home
Reason flags and founders
Her breath a bloody foam

The serpent writhes in silence
In state, love lies reposed
Rebirth deferred, denied until
The eyes of hope are closed

Despair holds grim dominion
The jess is cast aside
Night descends to kill the day
And still the serpent slides

The coil is closed and endless
All falls within its arc
Love grows not unsown by hate
Nor light without the dark

Call it praise of contrast and walk away. The snake gets hungry if you stare at him too long.
