Fear and Desire - Spirit of the Season

Okay, it's not quite so festive to be posting this at the end of August, but this is a 'Christmas Special' I wrote last December as a continuation of Fear and Desire.

It was done as a sort of 'making up' for the fact i've not really given that story a sequel. I do intend to one day, but like Against All Odds, I really can't say for certain when or if that'll happen for certain!

before I "review" this, I must ask some things.

    what does "the v's" mean?

who is the "Nathan" mentioned?, I think you slipped up there :)

    now, moving on.

after reading this, and having read Fear and Desire through, I must say that while not as good as AAO, it still was quite enjoyable to read. a tale of how friendship overcomes all else, and accepting someone different, a story where good people overcome hardship to receive good lives, and bad people swiftly receive just punishment for their actions.
although all the sporting talk and above-my-age-partying kind of went over my head, and it took a bit to understand some of the UK-oriented language, this story is not one i'll forget any time soon.
as I've said before, many times in fact, you have a natural talent and high skill in story writing, and nothing I've read that you've written has been even remotely bad, and this is no exception.

I'm giving 'Fear and Desire' an 8.5/10, and I know that if you write anything else it'll surely be something to keep an eye out for!
so Tirrell, as I hope you'll one day sequel AAO, I find myself thinking a sequel to this would also be good, just as you've said.
as I look at the views on this, and see them only at '5', I say this to you: do not be discouraged, they don't know what they're missing out on! :)
you're better than any other writer I know of, it's easier, and a lot more fun, to review your works than it is to do the same for the texts we're assigned in English class at school :)

good luck in all your present and future endeavours, my friend!

"the V's" means to stick two fingers up at someone - comparable to giving someone "the finger" but with the middle and index fingers extended and the palm towards yourself (a reverse of the 'peace' sign). It's a British/Irish thing, but it's also used down there in Australia if I'm not mistaken? ^^

Oh, yeah - well spotted! I'll have to edit that x3

Thank you for reading this story, and for taking the time to make your considered review! I'm happy to know you enjoyed it, even if some things were a little unfamiliar to you. I'm hoping my future stories can live up to what i've produced so far!

I'd love to write a sequel to both this and AAO some day - it's just a matter of thinking up a suitable storyline to continue on with. For now though, both Sam and Nick, along with Nathan and Alexei can live their lives without me putting them through any more hardships hehe ^^

I'm not worried by the low number of views here on Weasyl. Happily, I get a decent sized readership on SoFurry, and to a lesser extent on FurAffinity. I like to post here so that anyone who doesn't use those sites can also read my work :)

Hehe, well English assignments are never easy to read, since you're having to do it for work rather than pleasure. I know I used to hate reading texts and books in school since they managed to have all of the fun sucked out of them. I'm glad my stories are more of an enjoyment for you than that~ ^^

Thank you, you too! ^^ I hope your story work continues successfully :)

(you didn't put this as a reply, I didn't get notified about this, I just happened to check on coincidence and found this 'reply')

hmm... no, I haven't heard of it before, nobody uses reverse peace signs over here, they just give the middle finger in that situation.

      hahaha... :3

hey, how many times must I say it?
nothing you write could possibly be bad... but it's not like I'm gonna miss out on reading them! :D

yeah, you've said. no rush though, they do say "you can't rush art" :)

ah, I see. I still stand by what I said, though :)

oh most definitely, AAO and FaD are way better than 'Night', 'One Night The Moon', and 'Montanna' by a longshot!

you too, good luck in your future works and life overall :)
