Dr. Horrible: "My Eyes" (Condensed)

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is probably one of my favorite musicals, and a particular song from the soundtrack stood out to me. The song is called "My Eyes," and basically functions as a musical soliloquy/duet for Neil Patrick Harris' character Billy, and his love interest Penny, played by Felicia Day.

In his verse, Billy is bemoaning the state of the world and expresses his need to rule it. In her verse, Penny is singing about the optimistic kindness in the world, or the "good in everybody's heart." Musically, the two verses are in relative minor and major keys to each other, which is used to its fullest extent in the last third of the song, when Billy and Penny sing together. The juxtaposition of major and minor keys makes for an interesting sound, and I tried to reflect that by playing the two parts of the song together at once.
