Harp's Flivver by Tigris

Harp's Flivver

Tigris

Harp has arrived in California! That little jalopy of his made it all the way from Michigan to California. Unfortunately, when it reached Hollywood, it literally fell apart. He believed that the only kind thing to do was to put it out of its misery, and then properly bury it in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale. It was a good little flivver, he will miss it.

The Hollywood sign was originally a housing development advertisement for "Hollywoodland", built in 1923 (which was within Harp's time-frame of living). In 1949, they decided to replace the dilapidated sign (then read "HuLLYWO D") and decided to leave of the "-LAND" part so that it would no longer be for the housing development but the city itself. It got another facelift in 1978, one of the donors was Alice Cooper, he donated an O and dedicated it to Groucho Marx. After that, people would constantly ransack the sign by changing the text to "HOLLYWEED", "RAFFEYSOD", "JOLLYGOOD", and a ton of other things.
