I've decided I want to branch out into traditional art more--specifically, watercolors. (don't worry, I will still be doing mostly digital pieces!) kreoche and I are going to make a children's book together, where he writes it and I illustrate it traditionally! Which means I really need to practice before doing the final book.
I decided that inking the book with a calligraphy pen and then filling it in with watercolors is my preferred aesthetic. When I tried to use watercolors only, it was a mess ;-;
This is a little storybook scene for practice. My mother already gave me the good advice to take more advantage of the unique look of watercolors--I've made the colors too solid here, rather than adding interesting shading and texture. I need to use more water when I put on the initial colors, then go over it a few more times after the first bit dries.
I only have green ink for my calligraphy pen right now so green outlines for everything! :P
haha I need to practice calligraphy text, too...
