Dive In- An Otter Drinking Song

Dive In
An Otter Drinking Song
(Tune: “All For Me Grog”)

CHORUS:
Dive dive on in,
With all yer holt an' kin
Damp from yer ears to yer rudder!
You can spend all your tin
With the laddies drinkin' gin,
But ye'll soon enough be ready for another!

I.
Where are me mates?

Me jolly jolly mates?
They're damp from their ears to their rudders!
And they make a merry crew
With their muzzles full of brew
And they'll sure as hell be thirsty for another!
(Chorus)

II.
Where is me girl?
Me jolly jolly girl?
She's damp from her ears to her rudder!
An' she's givin' me the eye
Like she'll raise her rudder high
But she'll down her glass and call out for another!
(Chorus)

III.
Where is the band?
The jolly, jolly band?
They're damp from their ears to their rudders!
And they're drunk as a baboon
But they'll never lose the tune
They'll keep playin' then they'll call out for another!
(Chorus)

Dive In- An Otter Drinking Song

Threetails

This was inspired by a conversation I had with Kobi years ago about what an otter drinking song would be like. I had the title "Dive In" pretty early on but I hadn't really bothered to write anything down or come up with a melody.

This is based on the old sea shanty "All For Me Grog":

I guess this qualifies as filk?
