Threetails

Wow... what can I say?

I've been wanting to make a piece like this for some months now. No... needing to make one. But that's all I'll say about my reasons for making this.

This is actually a bit of an experiment in making a dark ambient/ martial industrial track. It's not the best that I could do; the sounds are mostly from Freesound.org, with a few other scrounged from elsewhere on the Internet.

The main component is a mix of ambient wind noises and a ticking grandfather clock, to give the feeling of an empty, drafty Edwardian house.

Prominent in the soundscape is a greatly-stretched sample of John McCormack singing "Keep the Home Fires Burning."

More subtly mixed in are the sounds of drums and of artillery, the latter eventually drowning out all other sounds at the very end.

It only took a couple hours to do and I think, with a good library of royalty-free sounds to work with including some recordings of my own, I could probably produce an album of similar tracks.
