1956 Citroen 2CV- side view

Threetails

This is my car! A recent photo Dad took.

My father and I have done a lot of work on this car, which was only about 40 or 50% restored and gutted when we got it in 2001. This is an early model 2CV; you can tell from the larger wheels, suicide doors, lack of rear quarter window, and the old-style hood (called "ripple bonnet" by enthusiasts). Mine is one of less than 20 pre-1960 models in the Citroen Club of North America registry.

In this side view you can also see how the windows open (or don't). The front windows swing upward and clip into little grommets in the doors, while the rear windows are fixed.

Is that a lomax (Not sure I spelt that right) in the background?

No, it's a replica Type 35 Bugatti built on a '66 VW floorpan. I'm going to sell that one soon, asking $8500.

        You sure love your classics.

Yeah, more than likely I'm going to use the money from the Bugatti to buy something more practical, like a Corvair or a Rambler.

            Nice choices.
Myself I would want a Firebird or Mustang, I'm more a 70's and 80's fan than the 50's and 60's.

Wow, nice work! I love 2CVs; the first car I remember my parents having, in the late '70s, was a beige 2CV.

That bonnet and the radiator grille are lovely.

I think so too. The car has a certain dieselpunk charm about it. :3
