Zee and Somnus (which means ‘sleep’ in Latin if I’m thinking right)

As everyone knows (or at least I’ve mentioned it publicly quite a few times now) Zee suffers from severe insomnia. both being unable to fall asleep as well as being unable to stay asleep, the latter often times because she has dreadful nightmares.

I’ve head cannoned that the Dream Kitty here is a species that might be drawn to such a thing. Or at least some strains of the species. Some might be drawn to good happy dreams while others are drawn to nightmares- either to feed from them or to try to comfort the person suffering in said nightmares. Somnus here is the latter, who sensed Zee’s suffering during one of her more dreadful and fitful nightmares and came to try to ease them for her. (also note here I’m imagining these dream kitties can fade between reality and the sleeping ‘realm’)

Zee, seeing Somnus in her nightmare, was drawn to the little kitty mainly because he had very similar coloring to Quinn/reminded her of his tiger form. At first, she even thought it might somehow -be- Quinn (unconscious logic that he had come to save her) so she gladly accepted the little kitty’s help. Holding onto him within her nightmares saw the horrors start to ease off and, eventually, offered her a more decent rest than she’s had in many many years <3

Upon waking, her hold on Somnus saw him ‘wake’ with her, into the physical world. She’s happily adopted and named him, and he sleeps with her whenever she’s able to get her head down past her other insomiac issues. he typically curls up above her head on her pillow or, if he’s feeling snuggly, will allow her to cuddle him in her sleep <3
