Tis' a day of celebration. With a very special birthday present for my wonderful friend Rav. You've made me smile when I'm down and seen me through some incredibly rough spots of my life. I feel I'm starting to figure certain things out slowly. I didn't use a photo reference this time but made a model in sketchup to try and get the perspective right. Lighting was from imagination and logic. Interestingly enough my illustration professor didn't really like this image. He felt I was over rendering the image and making things very muddy. Whereas a small illustration I did for an assignment (which I'll upload later) and only did flat color on, he preferred more. I showed him this again after I finished it and he said it was much better than before but still not entirely successful.
