Quick painting before bed last night.
Trevor got me into Outer Wilds. Which is everything I love how to play in a game unfortunately filled with every. single. phobia. I have. e_e
As lovely as it is, it's also genuinely sorrowful in a curious way. The most bittersweet game I've ever played.

Despite everything being so alien, it captures such a feeling of "home." (except echoes of the eye, fuck that scary ass shit. Everything about it is just... no... curse my need for 100% completion!) Perhaps because I grew up with a banjo/harmonica, handymen, and scouting family where everything looks VERY familiar about the Hearthians from my particular experience growing up. The dialogue is also phenomenal, in that, it feels like real ppl talking despite no voice acting, and it feels like you've known the Hearthians all your life. And the people you meet among the planets feel like a genuine meeting of your idols, the astronauts you looked up to and inspired you since a hatchling and their unique personalities. No other game that tries to do that, has succeeded in doing that to this degree (that I've played). The people would always still feel like strangers, and you never felt a need to go back to them. In Outer Wilds, everyone is worth checking up on or hanging out with, from the fisherman on Timber Hearth, to Chert on the Hourglass Twins. They feel like "your people," and that you're not some chosen adventurer set out to smash their pots and leave them behind. It makes it all the more heartbreaking with what the goal of the game forces you to do... But I wont spoil that. u_u
