This artwork was inspired by the 1987 movie version of Dragnet.
LAPD detective Joe Friday's namesake nephew and his partner Pep Streebek were called in to investigate a series of crimes committed by a cult group called P.A.G.A.N., which stood for "People Against Goodness And Normalcy". One of these crimes took place at the Greater Los Angeles Zoo. A giant Anaconda and a Madagascar Fruit Tree Bat were stolen, and a full-grown male African Lion was tranquilized and stripped of its mane.
FRIDAY: Somebody must've wanted that lion's mane pretty badly to pull a twisted stunt like that.
STREEBEK: Although, as mohawks go, it's not that bad. It'll grow back.
FRIDAY(pointing to a group of sad children): How do you tell that to these kids who have never seen a lion before, and now probably won't have the desire to ever see one again?
STREEBEK(to the children): Kids, it'll grow back.
(Children cheer)
Good thing it was just a movie. Otherwise whoever really did that would be "Public Enemy #1"!
Fan art belongs to me, Dragnet belongs to Universal Pictures...and that's "just the facts"!
