In the late 1950s and early 1960s, then color television was making its way into the marketplace, the "Big 3 of networks" (ABC, NBC, and CBS) were looking for innovative ways to let the viewing public know when a certain program would be shown in color. And thanks to a visit to the Greater los Angeles Zoo, anyone old enough to remember these "In Color IDs" will tell you that NBC had the most memorable of the three.
