In the late 1950s and early 1960s, then color television was making its way into the marketplace, the "Big 3 of networks" (ABC, NBC, and CBS) were looking for innovative ways to let the viewing public know when a certain program would be shown in color. And thanks to a visit to the Greater los Angeles Zoo, anyone old enough to remember these "In Color IDs" will tell you that NBC had the most memorable of the three. But don't take my word for it...See for yourself:

You're probably wondering why the VHF channel indicator says "2". Well, that's the local NBC affiliate here in Houston.
