Lycanthropy (critique requested)

"Lycanthropes, or werewolves are, are widely described in various folklore around the human culture. Many would believe that lycanthropy is a curse that was set on a bloodline of humans by ancient wolf folk ages ago after which it has continued to exist within humans ever since. This belief is also popular because the ties between the humans and the wolf folk have never been good at any point in history as well as due to the fact that the wolf folk seem to be naturally adept in mystics. It makes sense that the people who happen to be lycanthropes are not very well accepted within their respective societies due to their unnatural nature. If they are not killed before their affliction becomes obvious, they will eventually transform into a werewolf and oftentimes this transformation becomes as a terrifying surprise to the person. Once they begin to turn they will often escape into the wilderness to avoid being killed by their fellow townsfolk, as once they transform they will most likely be seen as a threat. It is unmistakable when one begins to transform as during this process the persons body shape and entire form changes within several minutes.

Once transformed, lycanthropes will remain in their wolf like form for several hours at first after which they turn back. However with each transformation they will remain in their lycanthrope form for longer, eventually making it permanent. While this happens they will gradually become more in touch with wildlife after each transformation. Due to their size and strength lycanthropes often are capable of becoming pack leaders in various animal groups, most notably of course they will associate themselves with wolves. However as their periods of being human and becoming more attached to the wildlife they will in turn become more detached with their humanity, leading them to becoming feral. As pack leaders lycanthropes are dangerous due to the fact that they retain their human intelligence, being capable of employing more cunning than regular wildlife."
