Infestation

This started off as a little exercise in grayscale painting and I am pretty happy with the results, managed to get more vivid colors than what I usually am able to get with grayscale.

"Once the amalgamate manages to find its way into a metropolis without anyone noticing, underground through the sewers, via an infected plant brought to a store to be sold or intentionally by someone already infected, it is a matter of time in most cases when the city will suffer a drastic transformation. Often times it will start unnoticed and in out of sight places, where it will slowly grow and fester, contaminating the air around it with its spores which in worst case scenarios infect dozens of people each passing hour without anyone even noticing in the fast moving city environment. While it grows it will do anything to keep itself hidden, often growing basic defenses around the ground zero once it has grown enough. Once it has grown large enough to not stay concealed anymore amalgamate parasites and infection forms begin to flood the area near it, attacking and consuming anything organic to allow the growth of the brood. This causes the brood to begin growing exponentially faster as new amalgamate spawn is created with each new assimilated creature. If action is not taken fast enough this growth can quickly spiral out of control as it spreads through the metropolis like a virus as new pockets of the amalgamate appear around the city as the infestation escalates.

If the amalgamate manages to claim a city to its own, after a few months the city will hardly be recognizable as what is used to be, due to all the amalgamate buildup on the entire infrastructure of the city."

holy jezus that story.. That's quite the infection in just a few months .w. All in the war games!
What exactly do the amalgamate do? o3o

The amalgamate is basically an organism that consists of this viscous substance that can shape itself in various ways. It is in most cases hostile against anything organic, as anything organic is food for it, but as the amalgamate develops its own hivemind partially according to the creatures it consumes, it may, in some very niche and rare cases become docile due to the things it eats. You can find a whole bunch of information of them here: http://amalgamatebrood.deviantart.com/

Oohhhhhh, I seeee! So very sweet, sexy, hive minded for sure, also.. Even being invasive to organic things, it seems like they're quite.. Nice .3.
I MUST HUG ONE FOR TESTING PURPOSES
And also.. Are there any outstanding amalgamates? Like ones who control others or so?

Pro tip: don't hug them, or if you want to become one. If you do, then sure thing, go ahead.

There is a hierarchy of sorts that they have, which defines how independent they can be from their primal instincts of being a part of the amalgamate (in other words, ability to not consume things if you can get more things if you do not consume things just right now). These are the more higher functioning amalgamate forms which are infection forms, broodlords and matriarchs, matriarchs are basically singular hiveminds and are due to that very large. You can read up more on the hierarchy and other things here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vb7jkxpWJoVD_CAEClsw2Zu1LnZklM3OUv9jaYiyETs/edit#
(the images in that file are kinda messed up atm, but I intend to fix them soon)

The story and the drawing kind of remind me of the Blacklight virus from Prototype.
    Very excellent work.

Thanks! They are a bit different than that, but they do have some similar aspects.
