Boreas by The-MadDog

Boreas

The-MadDog

I’ve been meaning finish this for a while now, so I took a small break between commissions today.

It’s actually a “redo” of an old sketch. I got rid off all the unnecessary stuff this guy had on, because truth be told, he’d probably be more comfortable going around naked, plus he doesn’t use any kind of armour and instead goes berserker into battle.

After a long time debating and arguing with myself, I decided to make him Dhavar’s half-brother, which explains a little bit why they look so alike, and why both kinda have “feral” traits. Dhavar has the ability to shift into a huge wolf –and while he can’t talk while in that form, he keeps the same level of intelligence- Boreas isn’t able to change, but on the other hand, compared to his brother he’s more feral-looking, and bigger. This comes from their mother’s side of the family (and is why I decided to keep him digitigrade instead of changing his legs to more human-like).

Dhavar (though not Boreas, who’s older) is the bastard son of the leader of a tribe, whom then had a legitimate child with the woman he married. Eventually, because of the fact that they believed in different gods, this –and other similar tribes- where eradicated, their leaders killed, and the remain, used as bait in the fighting pits –where somehow, both Boreas and Dhavar managed to survive-.

Slavery, and the brutality of their half sister’s murder at a young age is what fueled their hatred against the king, and what makes Dhaver eventually go into a rampage of revenge, which is basically the main theme of his story.

I really like the looks of both the character and the drawing v u v
You've captured that strong body type really well, and I just love the way you use colours.
