ACEO Ancient Dragons

thedancingemu

Another ACEO painting, a bit quicker than some of the other more complex pieces I've been doing lately. I had some brown Stonehenge paper I had splashed with blue and green watercolors and isopropyl alcohol that's been sitting around for quite a while, and I've been meaning to paint some olms for a while, so here are some trippy space olms or whatever. haha. I lightly sketched the olms and painted them with a light wash of warm brown, then used some ultramarine and a little payne's grey to give a little depth to the splashy underpainting. The white olms and stars are diluted white ink, and white gel pen, I used a little fine tipped mechanical pencil to outline the olms.

The original is not for sale, it was a gift for my fiance. He's really big on role playing and has his own campaign setting with olm dragons, something I helped him come up with after reading that olms washed up from caves were thought by some cultures to be baby dragons.

If you don't have enough pictures of majestic, yet phallic amphibians in your house, I'll have some mini prints of this made later if I can get a little preorder together. I'm also thinking about enlarging this image for a 8"x10" or so oil painting, I started using oils a couple years ago and I like them but I've never finished anything, I'd like to play around with them again.
