Finally managed to get an almost decent picture of this painting. Still not a great photo, the original has some very nice subtle color and texture that’s hard to capture. It’s rare to do a lighting experiment I’m actually happy with, lighting is something I really appreciate in art but have a hard time rendering myself.
4” x 6” on Canson paper, I haven’t used it before so this was a bit of a test. It’s not meant for watercolor, but some of my favorite papers aren’t, I like the textures I can get get with some of them. Didn’t take well to layering, so I did more dry brushing and paint lifting than usual, which was fun and worked well for the bark especially.
100% watercolor, I usually use a bit of gel pen, pencil, ink, pen, etc, but I wanted to see if I could go without, turned out pretty nice.
Original has been sold.
Prints are currently unavailable, as I can’t print from home like I used to. I hope to get some prints made up if I can raise some money doing a preorder type thing.
