Noelle is an immortal spirit of winter. She has command over ice snow, and wind. She lives in an alpine forest, spending most of her time alone. Many years ago, she had a human lover that changed her outlook on interaction with others. He was a northern ranger that thrived in the wilderness, and made it his mission to protect travelers from monsters and the climate. They lived together in a small cottage for decades. He gave her the now tattered cape she wears all the time.

Unfortunately, love cannot change one's mortality. The man died of old age, well into his nineties. No one is sure how long ago that was, but now Noelle lives in his stead, striving to help those in need.

Creatures of darkness had begun to encroach on the vast wilderness. Winters became more harsh. Nomads and villagers become engulfed in storms and driven from their homes. But, should anyone find themselves lost, scared, or hunted in the dark forest, they need not worry, for the lady of winter is watching over them.
