A little backstory on Dante and Molly. Molly is a junior and member of the Vanguard Institute’s Student Council and serves as a student ambassador and tutor. Because Molly isn’t a student of means and stature she has had to work very hard to be accepted into the upper echelon of her schools Academic Society. With dreams of attending one of the ‘Elite Eight’ Universities like the Excelsior Institute, Sidis Academy of Excellence or the all girl Somerville University; Molly is incredibly driven to do well in school and become the Valedictorian of her graduating class. Molly’s determination comes not from wanting any adoration or accolades. She is both humble and reserved. No Molly pursues the Vanguard Institutes Excellence Scholarship. The rewards of a Valedictorian and Salutatorian at VI is a coveted full ride scholarship to one of the E8 schools. Molly hopes to win the scholarship and ease the financial burden her education has cost her parents.

Because of her goals, Molly is an enthusiastic to volunteer around the school as well as participant in extracurricular activities. She does everything she can to improve her chances of making valedictorian. Using this to their advantage the school introduces her to a new student, Dante Silverstone. Dante is labeled an R.O.D. Student; Risk of Delinquency. A seemingly troubled youth he was given an athletic scholarship to Vanguard to play for the Vipers Varsity Kickball Team. Despite being from the Narrows and having been expelled from his last school for lobbying false accusations of sexual misconduct against his former Coach, Dante skills got the attention of Vanguard’s competitive athletic department. As a favor to the principal and the athletic director Molly has been asked to tutor Dante and keep him academically eligible for play as well as out of trouble. Over the course of the school year Molly finds Dante to be undeserving of his reputation as well as an honest if not charmingly practical person. Not particularly book smart, Dante is nevertheless bright, clever and observant. Their friendship is complicated.
