If I were to make a LoZ origins game, this bro would be the first boss. A Primordial Deku Tree planted by Farore over top of the site holding the first piece of the triforce. He's there to protect it :]

And so during the fight, the first phase has him barraging Link with explosive fruits. Once in a while, an over-ripe fruit will drop and Link can pick it up and toss it at deku's face (which removes the bark and exposes fresh light colored bark) and after a bit of this, Deku whips out his roots and flails them at Link in a last ditch effort to get rid of him. Link stuns them with slingshot (dungeon item), and slices them off, which eventually defeats the tree.

As a reward Link procures the first trifource piece (yay) and Deku, left with no greater purpose, muses the idea of producing his own little race of people to look after and protect; which he'd shape after Link's image.
