        You’re most welcome! :D

I’ve been binging on that this weekend, have had to resort to cheaper markers because I discovered half my Copics have gone bad (probably last summers heatwave—I lost my Prismacolors that way a few years back)—the tips are puffy and crystallized. @_@ It’s such a difference going from Copics to a lower-end quality marker, especially when blending. XD

Oh gosh, yeah, sometimes you can revive dried out copics by soaking the nibs in rubbing alcohol but sometimes you just need to get some new nibs. T_T

Yeaaaah, people always tell me cheaper markers aren't so bad but after using copics for so long, they are -so smooth-! Have to use a lot more ink with the others to get good blends so it feels like you'll be using up the ink more than the copics so maybe the inflated price of copics is still worth it? I dont know. X'D

Copics really do blend the best of all the markers I’ve tried. I may just work more with colored pencil and watercolors for awhile, then only do markers when I do flat colors.

One thing I always find interesting in buying sets of markers (all these little brands and hobby store house brands) is the color favoritism in a set. Some sets love reds and some sets love blues. I was honestly surprised that this KingArt set I recently got had a lot of purples in it—purple is the color I’d usually have to buy lots of individuals of in Copics and Prismas! XD

The one thing I found interesting at Michaels (yesterday), since it’s been nearly 3 years since I’ve been there—they’ve really been hyping up Posca markers, they had a really big display for them. I suppose it shows the store is going in with the hype of many artists using these now! :p

I'd have to agree; so far I haven't found anything that compaires in the same way. I love using copics as a base and some shading and then using pencil crayons for details, pushing shading or highlighting, etc. :3 (I really need to hunker down and figure out gauche. I have some but I haven't done much with them.)

Aaah yes, I think a bunch of places do this on purpose now? They will sell sets of like colours on purpose (copic does this too) but in the bigger sets they definitely seem to skew towards reds and blues. I've had to try to flesh out my stock over the years one by one when I find colours i've been wanting. X'D

I LOVE POSCA. I've been wanting to try them for a long time and got a set back in january as a sort of gift to myself after I had to return some new shoes because they just weren't fitting. They gave me a refund so I decided instead to treat myself to a few misc things I wanted, including Posca's. I have fallen in love with them! They are really fun to use. :3

Copics may be the one marker (although they have colorless blenders) that don't actually need a blender marker to help blend more smoothly. Plus, Copics have the best range of flesh-tones of any marker out there.

I am learning to mix and blend my watercolors better with some pieces, although the photos aren't doing much of my fine work any justice (like the Transformers watercolor I posted today). You can't even tell I did much shading here, even though I did! XD

Eventually when I have extra money, I may have my sister take me back out to Michaels and I'll buy some of the Posca sets they've got out there. Target has a basic 5-color set, but it sold out of stock quick. I have yet to see them at Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby. :p But Michaels had a lot of different color sets, so they may be my best place to get them--as a variety! :)

Haha yeah, i stopped using the colourless blender early on. I can make cool patterns in it with a Qtip and some rubbing alcohol if needed, or a lighter colour. I found that the blender made blending worse a lot of the time, was really streaky.

I can see the shading! It looks very smooth :3

Ah yeah~ I got an 8 piece set but I want MORE! X'D

                  • Link

Totally! I don’t get the appeal of a colorless blender for markers, but I guess some artists know how to use it well. XD Now, I do use a colorless blender with my Prismacolor colored pencils pretty often…….

Awww, thanks! I know the photo washed out the pic a little, but this is better than what my scanner would do to it—as my scanner hates reds. And there’s a lot of red here! :p

A lot of artists are starting to use Posca, so it’s worth me giving it a try—then I can review it for people like I have been doing for other art supplies the past few months. :)

                    • Link

Oh I had to go in and tweak it in my art programs after scanning to try to get it right, but it's still not quite there. X'D

I hope you have a good time with the Posca's!!! :D

I’m hoping I can get my sister to take me to the art store to get done with the extra payday I have this month. :)

I feel like scanners just want to mess with ya! XD

                        • Link

Ooo I hope you get get some sweet supplies~

That they do! It's a whole mess going from digital to physical and vice versa for lots of reasons. light versus ink, but usually I can get things somewhat close, this one was a little more difficult than usual.

                          • Link

                            Me too! :D

There are benefits to all mediums--it's too bad there's no perfect way to combine them all! XD

                            • Link

So true~ I do love mixing them though.
