Illuviel Duskrunner by Telvadian Rebel (critique requested)

Illuviel Duskrunner (critique requested)

Telvadian Rebel

An old RP character that I don't use anymore, though I have a new one that's a bit of a tribute to her. Illuviel was always a sweetheart. :3

Drawn March, 2011

Personally, I think the face looks really good, but the character seems to be leaning a bit too much to the right instead of standing up straight?

I'm not sure if this was done intentional or not, but as it is now, it looks like she is about to topple over, if that makes sense.

The pleating on the dress and the hair look lovely, though I think adding some strands of fly-away hair could help loosen it up a bit. Real hair doesn't stay that perfectly into place (unfortunately). I think this tutorial may help a bit: http://cataclysm-x.deviantart.com/art/Tutorial-How-to-draw-hair-50774338

Other than that, the only thing I can nitpick at is the fact that the grass is too scribbled and distracts from the drawing a bit. I think adding just a few tufts of grass to give some detail may have been better, rather than to scratch the grass in. That being said: after typing up this entire comment, I just noticed the drawing is from 2011. I hope my comment isn't too irrelevant. D:

It's still appreciated, even if the drawing is old. Thank you very much for the critique! I hadn't wanted to get too realistic with this, so I wasn't sure how detailed to get. I also wonder if the billowing dress adds the the appearance that she's going to tip over? Now I'm not sure! LOL. I DEFINITELY see your point about the grass, that's for sure. I like to hope I've gotten better at quick backgrounds since then, but it's hard to say. Again, thank you very much for the in-depth comment. This is the sort of feedback I LOVE.

No problem! I'm glad I could help out. c:

I'm a supporter of do what you would like others do do for you, so I give feedback when I'm able.

Also: it's not so much the dress, but more the alignment of her shoulders in relation to her feet. if I continue the line of the leg, the foot on the viewer's right ends up somewhere in the extension of the space between both shoulder-blades, throwing the center of balance off.

I THINK I'd originally drawn her legs as if she were walking, then covered them with the dress... but I can't remember for sure! LOL Either way, I think I need to plan my drawings ahead a little bit more.
