So, this is a segment of a large project I've been working on since the start of this year. It's composed of a number of mini-epic poems, telling of great figures and mythological events in a world I'm writing for - much like the Elder Edda.
In terms of style I'm very much interested in northern-european works rather than the epics of Homer. As such, I've been playing around with the styles found in works like Beowulf, among others.
This sample is the beginning of an epic for a warrior called Iltharr, detailing his adventures and how he came to be an important lord during his lifetime. The entire length of his epic is 17,000 words, of which this is only a fraction.
As always I hope you enjoy, and I'm curious to hear what you think.
