Kehkiree by TeezyBird

Kehkiree

TeezyBird

"The firebirds call us Ehri-Kauth, Finned Folk, but that is not a fitting term. The essence of being Kehkiree is not having fins. To be Kehkiree is to have flesh as smooth as water worn stone and a soul as rough as a violent tide. To be Kehkiree is to have the strength to live in the open sea and not hide away in cities like the land folk and the Chechera. To be Kehkiree is to know the world through your voice, to sing to the oceans and have the oceans sing back to you."

More worldbuilding art.
Just some random Kehkiree. All the races (besides the troodon creatures) on Ahkahl are animals that were uplifted by the spirits celestial bodies to have magical abilities and higher intelligence. The Kehkiri are dolphins uplifted by a gas giant planet named Rikiriki. They're pretty similar to regular bottlenose dolphins physically, but they have larger brains, longer fins, and will often be born with speckled skin. They tend to have more "primitive" lifestyles than the other magic beings on Ahkahl, as their anatomy makes it difficult to build tools and manipulate objects, and the large amount of sea creatures they have to eat on a daily basis makes trying to farm anything pretty difficult.

I had a lot fun with this, I’ve never painted an underwater scene before so it was pretty challenging.
