This is Solain, a crocodilian lady, and Seye, an Omni-Optical Skullbird. They are good friends. Sol is a summoner of various creatures. In order to get to know them, she links minds with them. Sometimes she does it even when she is already bonded with the creature to make them feel closer.

Seye and Sol are going to be around for a looong time, as both live for centuries. Seye is naturally long lived because her species ages extremely slowly, and while here she may be 50 years old, she is an adolescent bird. Sol gets so involved in summoning and getting to know creatures that it becomes an obsession. She ends up gaining strange abilities from the monsters she moves on to bond with, and this makes her ascend to a purely magical being after she does it long enough.

In this picture, they've known each other for about a decade, but they still like to mind link from time to time. Seye's species look like their eyes are hollow when they're closed, hence why they are named skullbirds.
