A while back I watched the movie Wolf Children, and I absolutely loved it for several reasons. I wanted to draw myself reminiscent of the beastly-human forms of the titular children, however I don't think this turned out the way I wanted it to at all.

While the gritty texture and shadows of the shirt is nice, it wasn't my intention for the colours to be so muddy. All the shadows and values in the fur/hair were lost due to failed experimentation, the pants are especially a mess.

I almost want to say it's due to lack of a sharp blender pencil to get the coloured pencil nice and smooth (my one derwent blender is a small nubbly thing), but I'm also still not really experienced in getting colours blended smoothly with strong shadows in coloured pencils. Messing around with markers/marker-like felt-tips has done interesting things in the past, but sometimes... it doesn't go well. I suppose I like the face shadows at least.

I will probably give this another shot in the future, I'm not sure if with the same lineart, digitally, or what though.
