Yardtime Fun by Tavi Munk

Yardtime Fun

Tavi Munk

Nothing like a good time out in the yard with a few fellow cubs to beat the heat. All was well while playing games like tag,

hide n seek, and dodge ball. Kalida talked to the girls and had another game in mind. They agreed and brought it up

with everyone, but Toren, David, and Dan didn't want to take part. Saying it was "girly game". So the little ladies went on

the play as the gents tried to find some fun of their own.

Fink pointed out a lawn sprinkler in the corner of the yard. I joined him and dragged it and the long hose out. The idea

of running around and getting wet had all boys eager. Maybe more fun than what the girls are doing. David helped me

straighten the hose out while Toren and David grabbed the other end. Fink sat near the hydrant and ask us to bring it

and so we did.

Gem looked on as to what the boys are up to. But that got interrupted by the distraction of a vivid red ball rolling and

bouncing into her reach...thanks to the fennec kit. Tibby and Len Len accompanied the baby squirrel by helping her roll

the ball to the others. And Wen would bounce it back to Kali.

We had everything set. The husky pup tightened the hose, I placed the sprinkler in the center of where we all stood,

and waited for playtime in the water. The spigot was turned, and you can hear the air hissing as the water pushes it out.

I got too curious and looked on closely. But quick enough to dodge the fast jets of water as they shoot into the air.

WE HAVE WATER!!! LET'S GET WET! Run run run. Hopping around, over, and through. The water flow started slanting to

one side, making arcs. We made a game to run under the water tunnel before it panned to the other side. All of sudden,

the sprinkler started making sputtering sounds. One opening after another that propelled the water stopped. And a

pouty group of boys really showed from the results.

The sound of the girls can heard as they teased our little mishap. Fink and I ignored them, Toren sat to ponder, and

Dan and David talked a bit. I asked the pup to turn the water off so I can see if I could fix the problem. In doing such,

I starting shaking the piece of plastic and metal. Had a feeling it was clogged like putting toys in the toilet. SHHHH.

On the other side of the yard the teasing kept on. Saying it's not gonna work. Now it was getting to me.

Shake, shake, hit, shake, and nothing. Then I heard something come loose but wasn't sure what. Thinking it was fixed,

Fink was given the go ahead with the water. The bunny, wolf, and lemur watched as though a drumroll was going on.

Still holding the sprinkler, I was making sure it wouldn't spray me in the face. Holding it a little higher and off to the

side some. The rushing water can heard. AND........... nothing. It was getting really disappointing.

I wasn't giving up. Not now. One of the girl insisted on getting back to playing ball and letting the boys deal with their

failed fun attempt. I then decided to give it one GOOD shake and told Fink 'FULL BLAST!'. Without warning a rocket stream

of water came out strong through each jet. So strong, it was pushing away from me as I held on. Saw Toren quickly duck for

cover, dodging the coo blast. I was happy it was working, but David pointed quick and Dan looked to where.

It was all followed by what sounded like a group of shrieking girls. And well...it was the sound of shrieking girls.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" was soon followed by "TAVIIIIIIIIIIIIII! stopppppppppp!" It was a mix of screams and giggles from

the five. But the best scream was the word "MUDDDDD!!!" by Gem as Tibby and Lenlen are about to get the best mud bath

from a happy little squiggle.

Well with it working now, funtime for boys resumed. But it leaves us with what will the girls do? ^^
