Carnival Time by Taross

Carnival Time

Taross

The region where I grew up has a yearly festival. The origins are somewhat foggy in time but the end result is one last bash of fun and drinking and food before fasting until Easter. Personal theory being is that around this time after winter and the start of spring, all the most perishable foodstuffs in storage is about to go and everyone just gets together and makes a party out of cleaning out the leftovers.
The fasting that follows, co-opted by current religion, mainly has to do with the fact that until proper harvest times arrive again, the only food left is the REALLY preserved stuff; pickled, dried, salted... hard tacks.

Nowadays this is not an issue anymore, of course, and Carnival has turned into a three-day massive party where for a lot of the younger generations it just boils down to getting as drunk as possible before drinking some more.
But there is that golden window in youth, and a little later on again, where the party and dress-up part of the festivities have their charm and shine.

It does seem, though, that Taross was of two minds -literally- when it came to picking a costume to join the masses with. Eventually settling on a common theme at least, but the bird wanted to be a little more rowdy.

So here's introducing to you the (milk)maiden and hir loyal protector samurai; all at once.
