A bit of sillyness from todays sketchathon by :iconCervelet:
I've always liked the idea explored a bit in the Discworld novels when it comes to Deities. Where most of them are dependant on how many followers they have for how strong they are, or whether are even Gods at all. And sometimes when incepted their entire shape hinges on what people believe them to look like.
Of course, this realities' Taross has hir form as a multied arctic merlizard. And I feel hir appearance has been more or less solidified in whatever imagination or community the feral little merlizards have considering the time shi spends with them.
However, rumors of a Deity of some form or another travel and after a lot of Chinese Telephone someone carved out a small idol of they Believed shi looks like. And together with a bunch of other folks consolidated that Belief in prayer.
So when Taross came over to have a look who was actually actively calling, this happened...

Perhaps at some point I'll try and commission Cervelet for something of a future view of arctic merlizard society. Or maybe get a full look of what this shape is all about... I'm thinking... 3 pairs of foreflippers, 6 pairs of hindlegs. We'll have to see ;)

Not /this/ creative, but you can look into the book Small Gods for instance for an idea. As well as i think Soul Music. Small Gods involves a turtle god who has only one real believer left (despite a large religion) and as such is bound to that one fellow in the guise of a small turtle. So belief and followers equals power.
In Soul Music, iirc, Death quits for a bit and all the rampant Life Energy gives birth to the OhGod of Hangovers. Who has to live with the effects of the God of Wine's binging ;D Which is a bit of a form-follows-belief reaction. People believed that he would be like that and so he was.So in this case a little bit of a combination; the little fellows got the look for Taross here completely wrong and wholeheartedly believed THIS is what shi would look like. So when shi popped in to see where this new Faith was coming from, bam... conformation.
