This is a remake of one of the songs on my first album, originally recorded in 2004. For a long, long time I considered it one of my best, and it wasn't until 'Daryil Answered' (2010) that I really felt I'd made a worthy follow-up. If you're familiar with that song you will likely notice a few similarities in its structure.

The original song was done on 7 tracks of my TSR-8, using a Roland MVS-1, a JV1010, Cheetah MS-6 and Waldorf Pulse. I think I also used an Alesis SR16 for the drums.

This rerecorded version also uses the above set with the Triton for drums, but it also adds the Waldorf MicroWave to do most of the PPG Wave sounds which the MVS-1 was emulating before. It also uses the Minimax to do most of the minimoog things which were being emulated before, my Mellotron thing (which the MVS was doing before) and some additional Hammond organ parts as well.

The song was tracked across 18 tracks of my MSR-24. Vocals were tracked to and dubbed from the same TSR-8 that recorded the original song way back when, and it was mixed to tape earlier this evening.

Critique on the mix and vocals would be greatly appreciated. Yes, the guitar thing is lame. No, I don't have a guitar nor anyone willing to guest on the song (though now I have a bass I might be able to improve it). No, making the intro shorter will require completely rerecording it from scratch, yes I probably can stretch out the outtro to give it more time to fade.

Influences on this song include Roger Limb's rendition of the First Noel (see 'Box of Delights' opening credits), Genesis, and Alice Borchardt's book, The Silver Wolf.
