Song 343 (take 1)

This was originally intended for a concept piece about a robotic dragon gone AWOL, but the concept itself went AWOL and turned into its own thing, somewhat reminiscent of the System-Shock inspired music I did before. So now it's simply "Song 343" even though it's an instrumental and not really a song at all. I will think up a name for it in due course. And yes, I will definitely get back into more 70s-sounding stuff at some point! But clearly not yet.

Recording was done on an Otari MX80 24-track machine, with the bass recorded on a TSR-8 and dubbed across. Mixing was done to 1/4" tape on a Studer A807. Compared to Xerian Part 6, mixing was dead easy, this was only the second or third attempt.
At one point during recording I ended up dubbing a click track before the bass guitar kicked in. This happened while the MX80 and TSR-8 were still in the process of locking up so the pitch went all over the place producing an interesting effect. I decided to keep it for now, if I really don't like it I can always mute it for the album version.

Roland MVS-1, JV-1010 and D550
