Even when flying recreationally, you're always on the job. Sure, the multilayer ALON laminate windows are tough, and it takes a long time for air to leak out, but volatiles replenishment shipments aren't particularly cheap. Not to mention that enough compromised outer panes can reduce the light flux, which isn't good for the plants.

Distant Shore-4 is a Cylinder-12 colony, the smaller version of the distinctive twin-cylinder structures. They provide a pleasant 1g, hefty radiation shielding, and enough living space and life support for 800,000 azoforms. The municipal utility is probably the most powerful entity in most space colonies after the public works department, with good reason. If there's no electricity, people start dying in a hurry.

This was an attempt at drawing the interior of an O'Neill Cylinder-style colony, something which I need to practice more in the near future.
