I haven't really said much about what's happened. It's been a difficult few days and I'm still in shock. All I can really say is my love and support to the affected families and friends of the Christchurch Shooting. I am just, amazed by the outreach of New Zealanders to the Islamic community. It's beautiful to see people come together in this darkest time.
And then this phrase came to mind.
"You are home. You are loved."
As an immigrant myself, my family came to New Zealand looking for a better life. A safer life. A place where we can be who were are no matter the skin colour, religion or anything. And so many people who lost their lives that day, were also people who risked it all to come to this new land of love and hope.
And so, may those people rest in peace here, in their home. And may they forever be loved, by the people of their home.
Kia Kaha Christchurch.
