To War

Syndarin

This is a piece for ferolux ferolux of his awesome character waging war with his dragon companion! This was a super fun piece to work on and it's always a good day when I get to draw dragons. I would love the chance to draw them more often!

He wrote a quick description to accompany this piece:

Info from Ferolux :

I am currently trying to build my own world. And when Syndarin asked me for an idea what to draw, I thought that the topic "Dragons" was a good thing to go with.
Thank you very very much for this awesome drawing, Syndarin Syndarin

here you can see me/Ferolux ride a dragon into battle while shooting big deadly arrows.

Soo... a few notes on dragons in the world I try to create:

Dragons normally keep to themselves and are very very friendly and helpful, especially when they travel outside of their enclaves.
They apply for Jobs as mailman, or for quick deliveries and even as mounts.
It is very common that young dragons travel through the world in order to find either a homeless child, or surprise children in their bedroom (parents are asked beforehand) and take them for a ride.
Sometimes those rides end up to be quite long, as the dragon decides to take the child to one of the enclaves to see all the other dragons.
At the end of those rides, the child is allowed to choose one item from the dragon's stash for each person in the house it lives in, or if homeless, 3 pieces for themselves.
But now and then there are dragons who also enjoy fighting. They often let themselves be hired as mercinaries for an army.
Dragons give an army a good advantage, even more so, if it is big and strong enough to carry an sorcerer-archer that can heal wounds the dragon recieves during battle. By far not every dragon can breath fire, but those who can wreak havoc in the enemies armies.
The sorcerer, who normally is a mercinary that works with the dragon often, and the dragon, get paid for each soldier that they kill. It is quite easy to determin their payment, as the sorcerers arrows are huge and quite different than the normal footsoldiers arrows. The only burnt corpses on battlefields are normally burnt by dragons. And one can easily see the big area the dragons breath affects when it is going in for a ground attack.
Dragons and their sorcerers get paid very very well obviously. That is why they are rarely seen on the battlefield, because most armies simply can't afford them.
If they can, they get a big advantage over the other army.
Some rulers decide to only keep a small army, but enlist more than one dragon in the time of war.

Enjoy!
