History

Talarin Alta Sylwirzhae is the product of magic, science and tragedy. It was discovered at an early age that she possessed a Djinn Core - the remaining fragments of a fellow clansman, ascended to the status of new Djinn - and it was then that the heads of her clan took interest. They trained her, taught her, ensured her life was comfortable.

At an early age, her home was destroyed along with most of her body, only the Djinn Core's knowledge, instinct and power preserving her through protection, healing and alchemy. It kept her long enough to be recovered, long enough to be restored, and when she was she discovered an entirely new self.

Tala's body is built from the ground up on a platform designed for the legendary Xiche clan's bionic hybridization project. A force to be reckoned with, it is a fusion of flesh and metal, trace and synapse in the form of materials that little resemble their composing aspects. Bone and artificial muscles called myomers are laid as a foundation along with cybernetic bio-analogue components to replace and exceed their biological predecessors. Genetic therapy is used to create variants of the cells responsible for bone development. The new cells, optimized to trace and refine existing structures as well as handle materials not normally associated with human or dragonkin biology, then assimilate the prosthetic body, creating a living tissue made of metal, electroactive polymers, various other chemicals and complex microcircuitry.

Tala's skin is optional and its removal provides her elevated sensory acuity, leading her to engage in covert operations sans dermis.

Being born into the Xiche clan, Tala possesses powerful regenerative, curative and corrective somapsionic skills, which is only further augmented by the possession of a Djinn Core, a factor which grants ancestral knowledge and power. Granted by the Djinn Core, among other things, are pyrophagia - the ability to consume heat to fuel psionic power), resistance to devastating temperatures and chemical transmutation.

Alsier

Alsier are a race of dragonkin native to Arunes who bear a great number of lupine, vulpine and feline traits. They are known especially for their wings and ocular adjustment capabilities, allowing them to shift their electromagnetic sensitivity from common visual range to either infrared range or ultraviolet range at will.

Alsier wings are different from most wings. Their bone structure greatly resembles that of a bat, albeit with the metacarpals and phalanges more even in length. The exact length ratio between individual digits varies greatly depending on ethnicity. Between the digits stretch the membranes expected of chiroptera (bats), however as a unique trait they are covered in dense feathers known as "shaper feathers." These feathers both protect the wing from damage and optimize the shape allowing greater flight capability. There are no actual flight feathers.

Alsier wings are load-bearing and possess both rigid, fatty heels and an impressive range of motion, allowing them to be used as a second set of fists in boxing. At the end of each digit lies a shallowly curved retractable talon, and the musculature allows subjects to place the whole of their weight upon them for hanging or on the blunt of the digit for downward support.

Ceranids

Ceranids [[Created by ~Rude]] are a genetically engineered, marsupial-like and hermaphroditic race native to Ceran.

Various biological traits of the ceranid species include...
-Dentition resembling a shears-and-beak arrangement akin to the extinct Terran species thylacoleo carnifex (marsupial lion).
-Opposable thumb, singular large talon and pair of small, fused toes on foot; large, muscular spade at end of tail used for climbing and defense.
-Marsupium (abdominal pouch) in some specimens and subspecies.
-Three intercostal pseudo-gill spiracles per side primarily used for liquid respiration.

Trivia

The iridescent appearance of the wings comes from a special oil mixture containing *ven quartz, a mineral that occurs naturally on the Alsier homeworld. This oil is commercially available and serves to provide a focal point for psionic channeling. In this case the feathers are enhanced with a molecular bonding effect that makes them highly resistant to severe sharp force trauma.

*The blue ring around the iris is a mild luminescence in the limbal ring due to the presence and passive channeling of aether-sensitive quartzes, such as [i]ven quartz[/i]. This is shared by all Arunian dragonkin. Due to the quartz infusion and arrangement of the nerves, as the body releases adrenaline and the nervous system is "primed" - such as during fight-or-flight - and begins to channel reserve aether more and more of the iris becomes luminous. Moments of extreme priming may cause the entire eye to become luminous.

*As a result her Xiche heritage and Djinn Core, Tala's aura constantly emits a low grade biostimulant and biocorrection, providing limited pain and illness relief as well as limited augmentation of general biological performance, including regeneration and immune response, for those nearby.

*Tala's aura creates a distinctive scent that can be described as a mixture of mint and ozone.

*While most Ceranids possess scaly calloused skin along the underbelly of the maunocaudial flap of their tails, Tala possesses smooth, supple skin comparable to the palm of the hand.

*Not shown in this portrait, Tala possesses cyan-range chromatophores in her skin and is capable of producing an assortment of shapes and designs on the surface of her skin. She is capable of forming rather detailed imagery.

*The ring of cyan through the fur on the tail is etheric in nature and strobes slowly from root to tip and is visible at most angles. The exact mechanism behind this is unknown, however it is believed to be the result of hollow hairs and etheric quartz present in the keratin.

*Tala possesses NO fur save the ventral surfaces of her wings and the obvious fluff along the perimeter of her tail. This fur is extremely plush and soft. You want to cuddle it.
